Former Vathorst Bicycle Repair has a special service, namely: A mobile bicycle repair service. Instead of hauling your broken bike to the bike repair shop, the bike mechanic simply picks it up from you or even repairs the bike at home.
This concept worked out great and caused good growth over the past few years. And now? Time to scale up! And that with its own office/service point where the bicycles can be brought or separate parts purchased.
Because of this change in the business model, it was also necessary to think about branding the company. So the question to us is:
“Can you rebrand Vathorst Bicycle Repair into a clear and professional brand that fits my new business?”
For a successful rebrand, it is important to gather a lot of information. We need to get to know the company inside and out, understand how they communicate, and know exactly who they want to address. To discover all that, we set to work with the owner. After a few creative sessions, we were able to create a clear basis for the brand.
With that solid foundation in hand, we knew exactly where the brand was at that time and where it could grow towards. Our idea was to create a fresh new look for the brand that really matches what the target group wants and that also brings out the positive qualities of the local entrepreneur.
In order to arrive at a new verbal and visual identity, we developed various stylescapes that each emphasize a different part of the brand identity. For example, one focused more on the personal approach of the founder and his team and another focused more on quality and professionalism. The choice fell on the qualitative character.
After choosing the right stylescape, it was time to develop it into a style guide that explains all the rules surrounding all design elements in detail.
You can't just throw your new brand online and expect your regular customers and the neighborhood to understand this change just like that. That is why it was necessary to inform existing customers about this change and to inform the new neighbors (of the new location) about the arrival of Vathorst Bikes. We did this on the basis of a New Neighbours campaign that was filled with flyers that were distributed locally and various social media posts that count down to the brand launch.
At the new location, balloons hung, music was on and a big BBQ was organized to celebrate the opening of the new store and brand. Everyone who stopped by received a nice goodie bag with lots of fun gifts from local entrepreneurs. It also included the special gift, the tire patch set with the text: “You're not in the mood for this anyway, come to Vathorst Bikes”.
BrandBros has helped me go a big step further with 100% commitment and well-founded advice. Thom and Maarten, thank you so much for the service and effort! BrandBros is highly recommended!
